A Very Warm Welcome to Paul Daniels

John Doe: A recent thread was discussing what Mr Daniels was up to nowadays, so I thought I would email his website expecting some kind of prewritten marketing spiel back. Imagine my surprise and amazement when the man himself got back to me. We got into further conversation, the whole time I was amazed I was talking to The Paul Daniels, and I invited him to come on here a guest speaker. The emails stopped. I thought I had offended him and was worried I wasn’t going to hear from him again. I was completely delighted when he got back a couple of days later to tell me he had been checking his diary and could fit us in this week. An important lesson to be learned by all of us here is you don’t get anything if you don’t ask. Another is Paul Daniels is a genuinely nice guy. A constant heckle I have had through out my time as a magician is “who do you think you are, Paul Daniels?”. If you ask any lay person in the UK to name a magician they will automatically say Paul Daniels. Many magicians first introduction to magic was the Paul Daniels magic set. The man has rightfully become a legend in his own lifetime.

He is listed as the most successful TV magician in history. The Paul Daniels Magic Show ran for 15 years. Paul was the first non American to be awarded ‘Magician of the Year’ Award by the Hollywood Academy of Magical Arts. The Paul Daniels Easter Magic Show won the Golden Rose of Montreux Award. The list of achievements goes on and on.

Whilst Paul has now retired from presenting his own TV shows he is still as busy as ever. He is now taking an active involvement in his site, The Paul Daniels Magic Shop, which is quickly becoming acknowledged as a leading online resource for both new and established magicians, as wells as performing in many upcoming stage performances. I would personally like to thank Paul for taking the time out of his busy schedule to join us here. It is a real honour. Whilst we have had many great names pass through here, I can honestly say I have never been so excited about a guest speaker. It is with great pleasure I introduce the Legend that is…

Nigel Shelton: I am thrilled to be able to welcome Paul Daniels to this site. He is the greatest name in magic in the UK and has personally, had a profound effect on my own interest in the art. I recall many fond childhood evenings watching his television shows with utter amazement and astonishment - he kindled a fascination within me that has never diminished. While many professional magicians are skilful at what they perform, Paul is truly magical.

A very warm and heartfelt welcome to this site. I thank you for taking the time out off your busy schedule to offer something back to those who endeavour to follow in your footsteps.

A silly question but I really want to know. What was it like getting advice from the two greats from across the pond?

Michael Jay: Welcome to the boards Paul. I'd like to take a moment to say "Thank You" for an effect that you've given me that I use to secure business that is particularly important to me, from time to time. You might remember the effect, which you wrote in your book, "You Don't Have To Be A Kid To Pull A Rabbit Out Of Your Hat," called, "A Magician in the Office." I've found it to be an excellent way to introduce myself to prospective customers and get their attention, right from the beginning.

This is quite a pleasure to have you here, Paul. Words simply cannot express how much I appreciate this.
