We are
very pleased to announce that, for one week, our next special
guest will be Mr. Peter Loughran. Peter's interest in magic
began at the age of ten and within two years he was performing
for birthday parties at $50 to $75 dollars a time - quite
some income for a young child! Much later, after touring North
America with Barbara Szabunia, Peter was to spellbind audiences
with live doves, amazing manipulation skills, close-up magic
effects, remarkable stage effects, an astonishing light show,
professional dancers and more than 20 large scale illusions.
More recently, he has performed on television and added a
wealth of experience that others can only dream of. More
details of Peter's amazing biography can be found at his web
site: http://www.masterofillusions.ca/petesbio.htm.
Why not have a browse through Peter's website at www.masterofillusions.ca
so that you can offer questions that are focused to the interests
and achievements of this exhilarating magician before the
date of his visit. We shall look forward to an insight from
the mind of this remarkable man.
Tora:
Hi Peter , I am very pleased to see that you have accepted
to be the new guest speaker. In fact I was expecting you for
the first week of 2003 but this was a nice surprise. When
I have offered your name for this forum, I knew that the people
here may learn many things from you. I am sure that I am not
mistaken. Welcome again.
Peter:
Thanks Tora, And thanks for having me here.
Mike:
Nobody
is more pleased than I, Peter. I appreciated your thoughts
and ideas long before we got together here in Magic Bunny
and I really appreciate that you are taking your valuable
time to do this guest speaker spot for us. Thank you so very
much. You know that if ever there is anything that I can do
for you, my friend, you only need ask and I am your humble
servant.
Peter:
No sweat Mike, I drop by here often anyway. You don't owe
my anything, although I know if I ever did need your help
with something and you were able you would be there for me.
Aedryan told me how valuable you were to him at the show you
helped him with, and how he couldn't have done it with out
you. You are all heart and give without ever expecting anything
back Mike, and that’s a quality that is hard to find in people
these days.
Tom
Cutts: Welcome to the Special Guest Forum, Peter. You
are, yourself, a very sharing person and a perfect choice
for the job. Have fun, these guys are great!
The
Scott: I was just wondering what 'character' you adopt
while you are performing on stage. I have been thinking a
lot recently about what character would work etc. Thanks in
advance.
Peter:
Depends on the routine I am doing. Mostly serious or comedic/romantic
traits onstage I think. If I am doing a death defying escape,
it will be done in a serious character. However I love getting
a female volunteer onstage and having a comedic and romantic
routine with her. I think over all I try to be mysterious
with a mostly serious side complimented with hint of comedy.
Does that answer your question?
Lee
Alex: Hi there Peter! Remember me? (We spoke before you
came to Turkey this year). How are things going in Canada?
Do you have any more new products up your sleeves that are
likely to be released soon?
Peter:
Good to hear from you again Lee, I do have some new Illusions
coming out this new year, Devil's Reflection (our unique mirror
penetration) Light speed (me and Chad Sanborn put together
the fastest vanish of an assistant ever made) Cremation Chamber
(the magician visibly burns alive in full view) But we also
have something else coming out which has not been announced,
it is a new one man street levitation. Its called Leap of
Faith. But with ours there is no lifting up on one foot or
taking shoes off. There is no gimmicked shoes, and there is
no need for special clothing. You can also view this one from
the front and the sides. This one really works. And is suitable
for street performing conditions. Going up?
Lee
Alex: Great to hear of the new products - if you need
a guinea pig I am willing!!
Peter:
Well If you were ever interested in paying for the shipping
costs Lee, Sign a couple of forms, then perhaps we could make
some arrangements. P.
Tora:
Peter I hope we may be able to see you performing new products
here in Turkey in your next performance in our festival.
Peter:
Is that an invitation? If so lets have me doing a big illusion
this time, no smoke machine though...
Mister
Toad: It's the time of year when people review the past
twelve months and set themselves a new target for the forthcoming
year. What are your general thoughts about your career from
the past twelve months? Is there one specific ambition that
you wish to achieve next year?
Peter:
On the whole I had a pretty successful year in 2002, And I
consider myself very lucky for that. I don't think I would
change much personally. I think I would make my new years
resolution to simply stay on the right track.
Tora:
Dear Peter, Please tell us about how do we get on the right
track ? Do we need a miracle to help or is it a long term
strategy ? Or what ?
Peter:
Both, Short term and a long term goal. First set a small goal
for yourself. Nothing outrageous, but something that is possible
to achieve. Don't stop until you get there. Then simply set
yourself a new goal but a slighter bigger one. Then when you
achieve that, repeat the steps. Before you know it you keep
achieving and achieving. You are building up your self confidence
and soon you will have a long term goal set ahead of you that
wont seem so out of reach anymore. But remember baby steps,
and soon good things will keep coming and a snow ball effect
will send you on your way.
Mister
Toad: I know that your interest in magic begun as a child
and the interest of gimmicks. Would you say that there was
one specific point, when something profound happened, that
your ambitions for life changed to the desire to become a
professional magician or was it a gradual process?
Peter:
I think once I realized that I could actually make money performing,
I decided to take it much more seriously and decided to ultimately
devote my time to getting to the point where I did not need
to work outside of the magic industry. But that was a gradual
process. My success did not happen over night.
