Welcome to
Jay Scott Berry

Nigel Shelton
We are very pleased
to announce that our next "Special Guest" will be Jay Scott
Berry.
Due to Jay's very
busy schedule, he has requested that his visit should be slightly less than
our usual one-week, it is for this reason that this forum shall be active
for the period from the 19th to the 22nd November only. We are very grateful
indeed for someone of Jay's stature to honour us with his presence and I
for one shall eagerly wait his time with us at Magic Bunny.
Jay has been travelling
the world for over twenty years, delighting audiences with his own unique
brand of magic. Being a man of many talents, Jay's skills not only lie within
the field of magic - he is also an accomplished musician and composer. Jay's
theatrical background spans back forty years, when, at the age of four, he
began his first steps in the world of entertainment in his hometown of Reno, Nevada.
He is world-renowned
in the field of magic and was, at the age of nineteen, the youngest ever
magician to perform at the Magic Castle in Hollywood. His c.v.
includes dozens of appearances on national and international television programmes,
work as a lecturer and seminar leader, input for numerous film, television
and theatrical productions, work at corporate events and trade shows and
work with The Palace of Magic Festival among many other things. In fact there
is hardly an area in the performance of magic that Jay has not experienced.
If you want to find
out more about this incredible magician before his formal start at these
boards, you may find the following site of interest:

I'd like to thank
Jay for taking the time out of his busy schedule to spend time at this site
and to talk with our members. I am thoroughly looking forward to his time
here and I am sure that there will be a great deal that I shall learn from
this visit, as well as enjoying the opportunity to participate in Jay's wealth
of experience and expertise.
This forum is now open for early questions,
in preparation for Jay's first visit on the 19th November.

Many years ago at a Ron Macmillan day,
I remember you talking about smoke from hands, flash effects etc. The lecture
notes, which I still have, had a reasonable section on a pull you created
from a key retractor. Recently someone has asked me if I knew where I could
get a similar device. I pointed him your way, but thought since you are
here, I would take the opportunity to ask, do you still do them?
I recall that
they were rather good.
(The ring routine
was also in there, which I notice you have as a separate item these days).
A
lovely effect.

Hi everyone.
Thanks for the warm
welcome. Please forgive my delay in getting online. I'm just coming off
a 10-week tour that has taken
me across Europe, down through Spain, over to Japan, Singapore, Jakarta, Surabaya, Manila, Taipei, Bangkok
and Kuala Lampur.
Early this past week
I was shooting two television specials, which will air in Indonesia this holiday season.
Amidst all of this,
my laptop computer crashed, so I bought a new one, which I am just now getting
up to speed (modem problems.)
So, I am thoroughly
exhausted and jet lagged. However, I'm happy to finally get online to this
forum. I should be able to keep up with responses for the week or so.

Hi Dale,
Yes, in my first lecture,
I discussed some different uses with reels. These were ideas that I developed
for the act "A Space in Time" that I was performing up through
'85.
I don't sell the reels
at this time; however, Petrick had developed my idea and added a locking
system to the key chain "lightning" reel.
He may still sell
them.

20 years ago? Time does fly! Thanks for
that Jay. I will have to take a look at Petrick's site and see what he
has.

Dale - there are lockable reels on the
PM site sold with various gimmicks that are attachable according to what
you wish to vanish!
