Jay Sankey

Bananafish: I'm not sure if it is too late to ask this, but I was watching a Paul Harris DVD the other day, specifically the amazing "Immaculate Connection" routine, and I noticed he credited you for his inspiration.

Is that effect based on one of your own? or was he talking generically when he said inspiration? and if it was based on one of your own which one?

Jay Sankey: I was playing around with a bizarre card handling that would become my effect CARDBOARD CONTORTIONISTS when my path crossed with Paul's. I shared some of my work with him and it inspired him to create IC. (And I was of course honored!)

Paul Gallagher: As a magician you have been able to perform and teach your magic on DVD's to the magicians that want to know how. I am currently working on a project to release on DVD, but do not know how to get started. How did you go about locating companies to sell your material? In my situation I already have a producer and a means to make thousands of DVD's. I just don't have the company connections to get my magic out. Thank you so much for being here to answer these types of questions.

Jay Sankey: The key is to establish a relationship with a successful magic distributor, but that doesn't happen overnight. My advice is to create a project, edit it, and then have 25-50 copies of it manufactured. Then ask a local dealer to "test the waters" and see what the reviews are. From there it will be much easier to get a sense of the potential and perhaps approach a larger dealer or distributor. Good luck!

Dale Shrimpton: Do you have a "box o stuff," that you think might be usefull in making up a trick one day, and what’s in it?

Jay Sankey: I do indeed have a "box o stuff," but it's filled with strange and unusual gimmicks and props that I would rather keep close to my chest for now. But rest assured, bit by bit, I'll share these magical beasts with those who -like yourself- are gracious enough to show interest in my stuff!

Nigel Shelton: I would like to offer a very warm thank you to Jay Sankey for the time that he has spent on these forums. I know, from reading the correspondence of other members, that his visit here has been very well received indeed. Thank you Jay for your input – it has been a very interesting and thought provoking week.

Luke Swithenbank: Yes, thanks a million Jay! It's much appreciated!

Aommaster: I would just like to thank you Jay for the great input you have given this forum. Like I said before, it has been an honour to have you on the boards.

I hope you have enjoyed your time here, and I hope to see you here in the near future!

Daymo: Thank you Jay for giving up your time to do this.

Joseph Magic: Thanks for your time Jay, though I personally didn’t ask anything the replies I have seen have been great, thanks again.
