Hi guys i am looking for your help please.

I have just watched and enjoyed the Bill Malone on the loose DVD,and on this DVD he does the really good routine with knotted silks credited to slydini and suggests getting these types of silk as they are perfect for the effect.
I am looking for a U.K. supply of these,I have done a quick internet search but found none.
Thanks in anticipation of some help.
Ivor

If you are unable to find the "silks", you might try looking here:

www.stevedraun.com/section_2.htm

Steve sells the "silks", which are really parachute nylon, for $30 US.

Cheers!

As far as I knew, these are not even silk but calico or cotton, rather like the traditional handkerchief.

I may be wrong, as it is ages since I had anything to do with this.

Thanks Stanyon and LeeAlex, you are correct LeeAlex they are not silk but a very good cotton or maybe it would work well with a very good hankerchief.I will keep looking as I would like to play around with this effect for a while

you could use regular hanks for this effect, I can assure you however that the Slydini silks will make the handling a lot easier, as they are a dream to use.

Mike Danata in Bournemouth had some Slydini silks recently, you might want to check with him.

Be warned these are expensive considering they are only silks, they are however the top of the range. You might want to consider what sort of silks would your character use, if it would be a rough old hanki then you need to put in some extra work and use a regular hankie. If however top quality silks would not look out of place in your hands then get the Slydini silks.

Uhmm... Tannens have them, but they say that they are a special nylon fabric... now I am confused - I could have sworn they were cotton... (?)

If memory serves these were actually 'parachute silk'. ;) I bought a couple of them from Harry Stanley around the time that he published the Slydini book and they were neither silk nor cotton. Sadly they are lost in the 'back room' as is the original routine!

I've seen black slydini silks in the past , maybe you can look for them. Much better , because the whites one will go dirty very quickly.

Thanks for the input guys,I too think the white ones will get a bit grubby and yes before its said I know you could always clean them but due to the material not often.

I also seem to remember reading something about the parachute material.
