It's one of these situations where it's probably very difficult for Jay to CONCLUSIVELY prove what he suspects without incurring massive legal bills.

So he may decide it's just not worth it at the end of the day.

If I were him the last 25 DVD's I'd ship to Penguin would be 'marked' in some unique way - then I'd order 26 of them from Penguin and see what turns up ;)

Lazymagic, I just noticed you literally just joined and posted exactly the same message here and at Talkmagic.

You're not from Penguin are you? ;)

Why not pop along to the introductions forum and tell us a bit more about yourself?

I just noticed similar threads over at Magic cafe (and those at Penguin) have all been deleted.

Free speech alive and well in the USA!

Jared, I'd be interested to hear what you think to this topic seeing as you are a moderator on the penguin magic forum.

Agreed. The points lazymagic makes in his (her?) blog are fair enough. However, the blog only contains 5 posts and it contains no 'real name' or information about its writer. Now we have another 1 post here and the writer is still anonymous. If you are going to criticise someone by name it is only fair to do so in your own name.... ;)

best wishes
Huw

Blimey, do you really think that I might work for Penguin after some of the things I've said about them??
No, I don't work for Penguin or anyone else in the magic industry. Not posting to the intros forum was rude. Apologies for that. I'll see to it now.

Heh, I just found that blog interesting and somehow I will be thrown into this...

Well, I actually don't wish to be involved into this discussion to be frank. I will simply state that I have nothing to do with Penguin Magic's business whatsoever, I am a member there just like everybody else. So I have no knowledge at all how they run their business and what is actually going on. I do know however that the owner (Acar Altinsel) states that it is all a misunderstanding (most of the times). I will not defend Penguin, but nor will I attack them. I will leave it as it is and I just want you all to respect that.

I will only state that the admin over there (not the owner) says that this was news to Acar and they will try to avoid the discussion in their forums until they sort it all out. So please leave me out of this discussion, I hope that this does not affect my "image" as a user at these boards. I am only here to discuss about this art we call "magic" and I help a bit at their forum when need be.

You must all be wondering why I post at their forums when they have problems with ethics. Well I actually do not mix their shop with their forums. That is because all Penguin had to do was add the forum to their website and the users took care of the rest. I don't believe that it is the admins that make the forums what they are, but all the users as a whole, and being that Penguin was one of the first magic forums I registered it is not easy to just leave from there. There is a lot of "spammers" over there as a lot of teenagers post over there, however believe it or not there are also some great people over there that give good advice, and I do enjoy readng their posts.

So Penguin to me is just like any other forum I post in, just like Magic Bunny. Simply because I have mod access and am able to "clean up" the mess over there when need be does not make me any different or a bad guy. No I do not agree with decisions they make in their business, and I will just leave it at that. I will say no more.

Oh fiddlesticks! I just had part into the discussion. Well I ask you all nicely that you now do not start jumping on me and why I do what I do...because quite frankly, I do not want to hear it. I am not here to talk about Penguin. Each to his own.

Back on track....

It's sad that it's come to this, but for Sankey to ask us to boycott a dealer shows how serious the problems are. Unfortunately he has learnt the hard way as we, and others, have warned up on numerous occasions beforehand.

Just shows all those bad post's about Penguin before were right, but how some of us were slated on here for it. What now then from all those Penguin apologists.
